Newry schools help win bronze at netball tournament

Players from four Newry and Mourne schools helped a squad representing the Southern Education and Library Board win bronze at a recent under 16s’ netball tournament.

Players from St Mary’s High School, Our Lady’s Grammar School, St Paul’s High School and Sacred Heart Grammar School helped their SELB side defeat teams representing Belfast and the North East at the Podium 4 Sport event at the University of Ulster’s Jordanstown campus.

Head Coach Maeve Murray, of St Mary’s High School, said; “We are very proud of the players and the commitment they have displayed in developing talent over the past few weeks. There were excellent performances across all areas and it was unfortunate they had to miss out on second position by a single point. However, the players and schools should be happy with what we came away with on the day.”
