Turkish court hears of horrific stabbings of local women

Two local women murdered in Turkey last August had been stabbed over 50 times, a court has heard in the last week. Marion Graham (54) and Cathy Dinsmore (53) were both killed by Recep Cetin, who was at the time seeing Ms Graham’s daughter Shannon.

The Judge, Mr Feyzullah Varol, read out evidence at Kusadasi Court in Turkey, that stated both women had suffered horrendous, multiple stab wounds, a number of which would have been fatal alone. Judge Varol continued by saying Ms Graham had been stabbed a total of 17 times, with 5 of the wounds alone being fatal. Ms Dinsmore had been stabbed at total of 35 times with 6 of the wounds having been classed as fatal.

The lawyer representing the Graham family, Baris Kaska, has asked for a reconstruction of the incident in order to establish how Mr Cetin killed the two women. The accused maintains he was attacked first.

Newry Times reported in December that the accused, Recep Cetin, would face bone marrow tests to determine his age. The results have yet to be released but it is hoped they will be available before Mr Cetin’s next court appearance in April.
