Call for vigilance after Derrybeg burglary

Sinn Féin Councillor Charlie Casey has warned residents of Derrybeg and the wider community to be extra vigilant after an attempted house robbery and a shed burglary in the area.

The Sinn Féin representative said, “There was an attempted break-in to a home in Second Avenue Derrybeg.

“Fortunately the residents were at home and disrupted the burglary.

“Eye witness evidence suggests a D Registered vehicle was used.

“The police have been informed. A homeowner also had their shed broken into and burgled.

“The Newry City Councillor urged extra vigilance and said, “I would appeal to all to be extra vigilant and watch out for suspicious activity.

“Those engaged in these criminal acts against people and property need to be apprehended and face the full rigours of the law,” he added.
