Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of an aggravated burglary.

It happened at residential premises at the Nursery Drive area on Saturday morning, 27 October.

Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Constable McKeever said, “At around 5:30 am, it was reported that two unknown males entered a house in the area and assaulted a male occupant inside.

“The male, who was inside with his dog at the time of the incident received injuries to his head that are not believed to be serious.

“The property was also ransacked during the incident and the occupant was left badly shaken.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 282 27/10/18.

Detective Constable McKeever added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
