Three Ways Youth Group kicked off their fundraising efforts for the year ahead by recently hosting a successful coffee morning in Three Ways Community Centre, Newry.

The 15 young people who organised the event are participants of a positive, informal personal and social development youth programme which has been in existence for over 15 years supporting young people to reach their true potential.

The young peer leaders within this project are continuously tasked with raising money to support both their own developmental programme but also help to raise funds for other worthwhile charities.

A total of £396.23 was raised at the event with plenty of variety include delicious pastries, cakes and a supervised soft toy play area for babies and toddlers.

The funds raised will support the continuation of their programme, providing new resources to support their learning and development.

At a time when funding for projects such as these is being reduced the young people have become more self-sufficient in acquiring new avenues of funding to help them deliver their projects and will be delivering a number of fundraising initiatives over the coming months.

Eve Caralon, a participant on the programme thanked the youth leaders for their support. “As young people we need direction in our lives and at times we can feel excluded, but in Three Ways we are given exceptional opportunities to increase and deliver our own programmes which allows us to be empowered and part of our community.

Eve added, “We look forward to the future and thank all those local businesses and individuals who have supported us to date.”
