Business, Community, What's On

Digital Catapult NI is hosting a briefing session on 10th October in partnership with Immersive Tech NI to provide information about CreativeXR, a new funding stream for the creative industries.

CreativeXR is a three month programme which will work with the best creative teams, from across the UK, to help develop concepts and prototypes of immersive content by offering access to finance, facilities, industry leaders and commissioning bodies.

The event, supported by the Department for the Economy, will take place in The Mac from 6.00pm to 10.00pm.

It will include a range of talks and demos from those involved in the NI Immersive Technology sector including;

  • BBC Rewind will share their thinking around how they plan to use the BBC sound archive with intelligent personal assistants – devices such as Alexa;
  • Enter Yes will tell the story behind ‘Beyond Hirieth’, their exciting Sci-Fi shooter style game with an emotionally driven narrative available for VR and mobile platforms.
  • Retinize will explain how you film a world title winning boxer in 360 degrees while he attempts to punch the camera, with their ‘Fight Game’ Carl Frampton VR experience.

Registration for the event please is available at: www.eventbrite.co.uk/

The first phase of Creative XR will see 20 recipients awarded prizes of £20,000 each.

Followed by a showcase held in London in March 2018 where the top 10 winners will be announced and given the opportunity to pitch for further development funding.

The CreativeXR open call for applications runs throughout October and more information can be found at www.creativexr.co.uk
