Re-Gen Waste Ltd is celebrating winning the Best Export Business category at the Greater Newry Business Awards.

The business awards are designed to recognise and reward the very best that the region’s business community has to offer and were hosted by Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade in conjunction with its sponsors, on Thursday 28th September in The Canal Court Hotel, Newry.

The Best Export Business Award was established to recognise export activity in the Greater Newry Area and acknowledges international competitiveness among local businesses.

Speaking to Newry Times, Joseph Doherty, Managing Director of Re-Gen said, “We are delighted with our award and proud that with almost thirteen years in business under our belts, we have established ourselves as one of the most advanced MRF (materials recovery facility) installations in Europe. Currently 80% of our products are exported to 27 countries across the globe.

“Earlier this year we signed a major contract with Belgian glass recycling specialists High 5 Recycling Group, which guarantees an end market for all glass gathered in the UK and Northern Ireland by our commingled waste streams and provides a secure end market for all glass collected as part of the comingled collection.

“And this September we announced a two million pound expansion of our paper recycling lines, part of a £9million investment earmarked over the next three years, to enable us to compete in China and the global markets,” he continued.

“We have significant plans for the continued growth and evolution of our business with a clear strategy to expand in the UK and European markets, where we are well known.

Joseph added, “However our success to date would not be possible without the sheer hard work and determination of our directors and our staff and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them.”
