McAteer welcomes £1m street light pledge

Independent Newry City Councillor Kevin McAteer has welcomed a pledge by the transport minister to fix broken street lights in the north. lighting1Speaking to Newry Times, the Independent Councillor stated, “Its about time transport NI were able to fix the broken street lights in our city. “I’ve been inundated with calls over the past 6 months to fix broken street lights in residential areas where residents have indicated they are afraid of the threat of burglary or falling and hurting themselves. He added, “It is great to see that although there is a back log, money is now available to fix these lights and hence clear that backlog.”
