Newry Halloween Celebrations: Spook-tacular FREE fun for all the family

This Halloween come along to Newry’s frightful spook-tacular free family fun event which will take place on Friday 30th October from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the Albert Basin, Newry. PrintNewry, Mourne & Down Council Chairperson invited everyone in the local community to attend. She told Newry Times, “As Chairperson it gives me great pleasure to present this year’s very impressive Halloween celebrations events programme. I extend an open invitation to one and all across the district area to come along be a part of a truly spook-tacular memorable free family, fun evening out.”

Full programme of events:

  Open Air Concert: 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Providing the soundtrack for your Halloween open air concert will be the James Peake Experience. Pumpkin carving fun: Children will have the opportunity to design / create their very own scary pumpkin to take home. Please be advised numbers will be limited and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Creepy colouring competition: Children can enjoy arts and crafts by entering into the ‘Creepy Colouring Competition’. There are five £20 Shopping Vouchers to be won. Halloween Photo Booth: The Costume Corner will be in attendance to add that something special to the Halloween celebrations and capture memories of all the scary but funny faces On street entertainment: Free face painting and Spooky Airbrush tattoos. Mix and Mingle with the Ghosts, Ghouls and Witches on-street entertainment. Fire Poise will be on show with a freestyle fire juggling show Ghost Train: Children will enjoy a tour on a Halloween Ghost Train. Hall of spooky mirrors: Children will enjoy a tour of the Hall of Spooky Mirrors which will be ‘spooktacular’. Flossy treats: Children will enjoy decorating chocolate apples. Fancy dress competition: £500 in cash prizes to be won. The Fancy Dress Competition registration will take place from 6:30pm – 7:30pm with the winners will be announced on stage at 8:00pm. Registration desk will be located inside the Quays Shopping Centre entrance at the Albert Basin side. Firewords extravaganza: 9:00pm. The celebrations will conclude with an electrifying fireworks extravaganza. In the best interest of all spectators on the evening Newry, Mourne & Down District Council’s events committee would like to advise people attending the concert of the following important information: Car parking for the event: parking8 Child protection: Any children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. In the event of a missing child please report to the nearest security / steward in Yellow Bib who will deal with the situation immediately. Stewards: In the interest of safety for everyone attending the event you are requested to cooperate with security personnel / event stewards at all times.
