Two women injured in Newry hit and run incident

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a hit and run traffic collision.

At around 2.15am on Monday, 16th February, two female pedestrians were injured when a silver or grey Audi A4 car mounted the pavement at The Mall, Newry, and drove along it.

A number of pedestrians were forced to jump out of the way and a 21 year old female sustained a minor head injury and a 27 year old female sustained an injury to her ankle.

Constable Garry Young said, “The Audi drove off with no lights on, going the wrong way up Kildare Street and heading on along Sandy’s Street and Stream Street at speed.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or observed this vehicle around the area during this time. We would also like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 88160115.”
