Carnagat residents to benefit from External Maintenance Scheme

SDLP Newry Councillor Kevin McAteer has welcomed the news of an External Maintenance Scheme (ECM) that is scheduled to go on site in the Carnagat area in January 2016.

Councillor McAteer explained, “A surveyor will inspect all the houses prior to the ECM scheme going on site and will take note of any windows requiring replacement due to their condition, in particular, wooden windows that are double glazed.”

A copy of the schedule will be issued to all tenants before the start of the scheme letting them know what repairs will be carried out to their individual properties.

He added, “This news is very welcome as residents have raised the issue with me. I welcome the fact that the housing executive has given a start date.”

SDLP Westminster candidate Justin McNulty echoed his colleague’s sentiments. “I too welcome this and look forward to the work being carried out promptly and to the highest standards possible.”
