Ennis urges Newry dog owners to act responsibly

Crotlieve Sinn Féin Councillor Sinead Ennis has requested a response from NMDC Council Environmental Control on behalf of residents residents of Innisfree Park.

The issue concerns dog fouling and Sinead said that a letter from the relevant body has now been sent to dog owners, advising of the penalties they may incur if they do not clean up after their pets.

Sinead stated, “Apart from the fact that dog owners could be fined for their dogs leaving a mess, there is also a health concern whereby dog infective faeces could cause the transmission of diseases to other residents, especially children.

“I would urge all owners of dogs to act responsibly and ensure that local bylaws regarding the keeping of dogs are adhered to in future.

She added, “It only takes a few seconds to clean up the mess and shows respect for other residents.”
