Warrenpoint ‘hooded stone throwers’ sought by police

Police in Warrenpoint are appealing for information following an incident on Greenan Road.

On Sunday 8th January, a woman was driving along Greenan Road, just past the Greenan Lough Road junction, when she observed a large item, which looked like a car bonnet, on the road ahead.

The motorist stopped and heard a stone hitting the driver’s window. The driver then observed two people throwing stones at her car. They were wearing hooded tops and had scarves over their faces.

Constable Neil McDonald explained: “The two people began to run towards her car when she reversed, turned the car round and drove off. As she reversed, the driver noticed another person in a ditch to the passenger side of the car. This person also had a scarf over their face.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident. We can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 1250080215.”
