Community, What's On
The fifth annual Ring of Gullion Photography Competition is opening on the 15th January. The Ring of Gullion with Newry and Mourne District Council are hosting another fantastic amateur photography competition in the Ring of Gullion. The theme this year is ‘The World around us in the Ring of Gulion”, which photographers are free to interpret any way they choose. This could be our Built, Cultural or even Natural Heritage. Only photos taken in the Ring of Gullion will be accepted. Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion AONB Officer says, “We would like to thank our supporters Newry and Mourne District Council and Northern Ireland Environment Agency. Having a young adult and adult category, this year means even more prizes. “So why not get out there and get snapping! The winning entries will also enjoy a wealth of publicity on our website on all our social media and local media.” The top pictures will be chosen by a panel of judges and will be on display in Newry in November and Ring of Gullion AONB events over the course of the year. The top 13 will feature in 2016 Ring of Gullion Calendar. The competition closes at 5pm on the 23rd September 2015. All last year’s photographs entered can be viewed on the Ring of Gullion Website and there are still free 2015 Ring of Gullion calendar’s available in Slieve Gullion Visitor Information Centre Monday –Friday 9.00am-1.00pm. You can find out much more about the Ring of Gullion and the Photography Competition on the website – www.ringofgullion.org and click on What’s on.
