Newlyweds thank Newry police for wedding dress flood rescue

Newlyweds Caroline and Gerard Crossan paid a visit recently to Ardmore Police Station to personally thank the officers who helped rescue Caroline’s wedding dress during recent floods in Newry.

Police officers, Constables Gemma Green and Mark Douglas, waded through flood waters to rescue Caroline’s dress from a shop which was rapidly filling with water.

The dress was rescued just in the nick of time with the wedding scheduled to take place the next day.

After returning from honeymoon the happy couple contacted police and asked if they could visit to pass on their thanks.

Constable Gemma Green said, “We were delighted to be able to help Caroline and Gerard and we’re glad that their wedding day went without a hitch.

“It is always nice to hear a thank you, and we appreciate the effort Caroline and Gerard have made to speak to us personally.”
