Warrenpoint runner Kevin Gallagher will be running a marathon (42.2km) each day from 13th – 24th December on a treadmill at The Buttercrane Shopping Centre in Newry to raise money for six local charities.

Local runner Kevin Gallagher is hoping to raise some much needed cash for six local charities

Among the six charities that will benefit from the ambitious runner’s tough challenge are the Patrick Dinsmore Memorial Trust, PIPS Newry and Mourne and Newry & Mourne Autism NI Group. After taking up running 3 years ago Kevin has taken part in many local running events in the area as well as the Belfast and Dublin marathons and after training on a treadmill the idea was hatched to do the ’12 Marathon Days Of Christmas’. An inspiration for this was Jo Fearon from Cork, who did this as a World record last year, and thus it was always on Kevin’s mind to do something similar in 2014. This event will not be trying to break Jo’s record but to raise badly needed cash for local charities. There will be collection buckets at the event at The Buttercrane Shopping Centre, so please give what you can however the amount, it all helps. The challenge will kick off on Saturday 13th December and the running times are from Sat- Sun 12-5pm and Mon- Fri 4-9pm. Kevin looks forward to the event and would like the support of the whole community so if you would like to help in anyway please contact Kevin at activedownarmagh@gmail.com or PM the events facebook page atwww.facebook.com/12marathondaysofchristmas Kevin would like to thank The Buttercrane Shopping Centre and everyone for their great support.
