South Down Alliance pays tribute to Councillor Sheila McQuaid

South Down Alliance Party Association has paid warm tribute to the late Sheila McQuaid who passed away on Tuesday 14th October and was an Alliance Councillor on Banbridge Council.

Members of South Down Alliance including Councillor Patrick Clarke from Down District Council gathered with mourners at the Church of St. Thererse, Scarva Road, Banbridge on Friday 17th October. South Down Alliance Party spokesperson Councillor Patrick Clarke stated, “On behalf of South Down Alliance Party Association we would like to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the entire McQuaid family on the sudden and very sad passing of our highly respected and esteemed Alliance colleague and friend Councillor Sheila McQuaid. “Members of South Down Alliance Party Association were deeply shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Councillor Sheila McQuaid who was a very committed and hardworking Councillor on Banbridge District Council who represented everyone and who was always a very committed public elected representative to her constituents.” “Indeed Councillor McQuaid was involved in many cross-community initiatives and her dedicated and selfless dedication to serving and helping others was greatly recognised given the large attendance that attended the requiem mass to pay their respects. Clarke added, “The local and wider community of Banbridge has lot a great public servant and Sheila will indeed be very sadly missed by so many people including her friends and colleagues and members of the Alliance Party.”
