Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the Ballyholland Sunshine Group to Stormont. Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I had the pleasure to host the Ballyholland Sunshine Group at Stormont to give them a tour of the building and discuss issues prevalent to South Down and older people. “It is important that we listen to our older citizens and that they remain part of the political process so today was an excellent opportunity for everyone to see politics in action. “Amongst the issues we discussed was equality, health, pensions and the campaign to have the Narrow Water Bridge completed. “There was also concern on the impact of welfare cuts on the elderly and the future of the political institutions while everyone agreed that the transformation of the politics in the North over the past twenty years was good for everyone. Ruane added, “I look forward to continuing my conversation with the group and representing their opinions in the Assembly.”
