Potty about Teapots: Local woman has largest collection of teapots in Ireland

Local lady Mrs Sandra Douglas has been earnestly collecting teapots for over 25 years. Sandra’s initial ambition was to collect 2000 for the millennium. Now, with over 3000 different teapots in total, Sandra’s collection includes a wide range of novelty teapots, traditional teapots and some coffee pots and is believed to be the largest collection of teapots in Ireland. Over 1000 of Sandra’s teapots are currently on display at The Quays Shopping Centre, Newry, (in the former Awear unit) as a novel fundraising initiative in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Sandra Douglas, teapot collector extraordinaire said, “It’s great to be able to see such a huge number of my teapots on display in aid of Macmillan at The Quays and to see other people enjoying them as much as I do. “Having previously been featured on BBC Radio Ulster and Fix It Friday on Today FM, we believe the collection to be Ireland’s largest collection of teapots.” Everyone is welcome to visit the display and encouraged to enter a raffle in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, to be in with the chance to win one of the following prizes: • A rug from The Rug House, Carnbane Newry • A cherry blossom teapot, sugar and cram set from Belleek Living at The Quays • £50 Gift Card for The Quays Shopping Centre • £25 voucher from The Costume Corner Cathal Austin, Centre Manager at The Quays said, “We are delighted to have Sandra’s fantastic exhibition of teapots on display at The Quays for the next few weeks. You can see Sandra has obviously looked after these teapots with much care and attention. “Each teapot is in impeccable condition.
