Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Mickey Brady has described two recent burglaries in Newry at the homes of two elderly people as ‘appalling’. Two homes in the John Martin Gardens and Ardgreen Drive areas of Newry City were recently burgled. The occupiers of these homes were elderly people. “Like everyone in our community I am appalled to learn of these disgraceful attacks,” said the local MLA. Urging vigilance, Brady added, “It is important that we as a community and neighbours watch out for each other and in particular for the elderly and most vulnerable. “Attacks like these increase anxiety and fear amongst the elderly population and I would urge anyone with the smallest piece of information to speak to police.”
