The Newry and Mourne Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has confirmed that the Pilot Community Warden scheme in the Newry and Mourne District Council Area has ended after the 3 month trial period.

The PCSP had identified the need to address the level of night time related accidents and attacks often fuelled by alcohol, and one of the multi faceted approaches was to address this via the introduction of a Pilot Community Warden scheme.

The PCSP monitored the trial pilot scheme and there is an independent evaluation of the scheme taking place.

The PCSP have included provision for Community Safety Wardens for the Newry and Mourne Area in their 2014/2015 action plan and this is awaiting approval from the Joint Committee.
