Lady taxi driver showered with glass after stone throwing incident

Police in Newry are reminding the public of the dangers of throwing stones at vehicles following an incident on Carnagat Road.

Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 9th March, stones were thrown from Derrybeg bus shelter at a bus travelling along the road.

The driver’s cab window was smashed, showering the female bus driver in glass.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them. They are particularly keen to identify two males, aged between 14 and 16 years old who were seen in the shelter. One of the males was wearing a red hoody.

Police are also asking parents to speak to their children about the dangers of becoming involved in this type of activity. Not only could you end up facing charges of criminal damage, you could also be responsible for seriously injuring or even killing a driver or passenger.
