Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane while welcoming the news that Fianna Fáil are to contest elections in the North in the future has stated that they will not fool the people with empty promises. Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “Fianna Fáil have announced that they will contest elections in the North and that the Narrow Water Bridge would be a priority for them. “I would however question their commitment to the Narrow Water Bridge project given the fact that while in power over the past several years they failed to put any money towards it, even at the height of the ‘Celtic Tiger’ years. “In fact they were more concerned over using tax payers money to bail out the big banks and speculators than investing it in the interests of the Irish people. Ruane added, “Fianna Fáil must back up their promises with actions and I am calling them to now join with Sinn Féin in bringing this issue to the top of the agenda of the current Irish Government.”
