Community, Sport, What's On
Newry & Mourne Mayor Michael Ruane has launched this year’s 310k endurance event at Bessbrook Community Centre.
The Mayor stated that he was delighted with the Council’s association and support for the event and would encourage people to come out to run, jog or walk for this very worthy cause.
The selected charity for this year’s 310K event is The Newry Gateway Minibus Appeal.
The Mayor acknowledged the hard work of the volunteers at Newry Gateway Club who work tirelessly to address the social, physical and emotional wellbeing of disabled people throughout the Newry and Mourne area, and hoped this event will raise much needed funds for their appeal.
The 2014 310k event will commence at 8.00pm on Friday 28th March with 31 groups of runners being released at half hour intervals throughout the night, until the concluding run at 11.00 am on Saturday 29thMarch.
Each runner will cover a minimum of 10 Kilometres per run and may take part in a number of runs throughout the duration of the event.
Walk options are available on 5k route at 9.00am Saturday 29th and event entry fee is £10.00 per runner or £20.00 for unlimited runs. For further information visit the 310k Facebook page.
