Doran calls for repairs to Greencastle storm damage

Sinn Féin councillor in the Mourne area, Sean Doran, has contacted Roads Service in an effort to have a full investigation and repairs carried to the coastal embankment and Pier Road in Greencastle.

The call comes following damage caused by the recent weather conditions.

Councillor Doran said, “I have been contacted by a number of residents of the Pier Road Greencastle who are extremely concerned about the damage caused by recent storms.

“The sea defence adjacent to the road has been damaged and residents are concerned that erosion may also have been caused to the foundations of the road itself. I have been in touch with the Roads Service, who have agreed to liase with the Environment Agency to consider a long term solution to this problem.

Doran added, “There has also been a special meeting of Mourne Councillors called in order to have a joined up and collective approach to resolving this issue for the people of Greencastle.”
