Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has praised all those who made Halloween a success in Hilltown, Rostrevor and Warrenpoint.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I want to congratulate all the community and voluntary workers who put together successful Halloween festivals right across South Down.

“I attended events in Rostrevor, Warrenpoint and Hilltown and every one of them was buzzing with a great party atmosphere. Over the past few years Halloween has grown into one of the biggest dates on the social calendar with a range of activities suited for the entire family being hosted.

“These fun filled festivals were again very well attended by entire families who enjoyed a range of activities from face painting, fireworks, fancy dress to environmentally friendly beacon style bonfires.

Ruane added, “Again we seen the creativity of our young people in the costumes that were on display and a community spirit that ensured everyone had a great time. I would also like to thank the emergency services for the back up and advice they provided in ensuring a safe night for all the revelers.”
