Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has thanked the Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill for attending a farmers meeting this week in Hilltown.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane stated, “Over 200 people attended a meeting organised by Sinn Féin to discuss agricultural and rural affairs attended by Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill.

“This meeting was organised a few months ago before the snow crisis so I would like to thank the Minister for taking time out of her busy diary to fulfill the engagement. Sinn Féin has constantly pledged to make the offices of Government open and transparent to the electorate and this meeting was part of that process.

“The huge crowd that attended was testament to the fact that people like access to their politicians and Ministers. While the snow crisis formed part of the meeting a wide range of topics around agriculture and rural development were discussed.

Ruane added, “There was a range of issues raised which we took note of and the Sinn Féin elected representatives will now work to resolve these issues.”
