Newry man charged with litany of offences

Police in Newry have charged a 23 year old man with driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving, no insurance, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs with intent to supply. It is believed the charges relate to an incident in the Ardmaine Gardens area on Thursday 4th April when a police vehicle was rammed by a car as it responded to a report of anti social behaviour. Two officers were injured and a 16 year old male youth was arrested at the scene and later released on police bail. The 23 year old man is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court today( Friday 5th April ). As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
