Alliance welcomes repairs to unadopted road leading to Dundrum Castle
Alliance Party Newcastle area Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed the recent road repairs carried out to Castle Hill, which is an unadopted road leading to Dundrum Castle.
Clarke had expressed his concern about the poor roads surface and condition of Castle Hill road and had written directly to the Minister of the Environment Alex Atwood asking for him to intervene, requesting that the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency carry out road repairs.
Speaking to Newry Times, Clarke stated, “Following my written representations directly to the Minister for the Environment Alex Atwood, MLA, I received written confirmation that the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency have agreed to carry out road repairs to Castle Hill.
“The road was in urgent need of road repairs which DRD Roads Service would not carry out due to Castle Hill being a private and unadopted road.
“I am therefore very pleased that the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency carried out the essential road repairs on a ‘without prejudice basis as a gesture of goodwill’ which means the popular road would remain open and safe to drivers and pedestrians.”
