Newry Armagh MLA Megan Fearon has commended Dromintee GAC on their hugely successful fundraising day in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. The event was held in the club’s grounds on Sunday 9th September and was attended by thousands of people from across south Armagh and beyond. Ms Fearon, who was a volunteer helper on the day, said, “I was delighted to play a part in this event and help out on the day. It was a fantastic event which showed the whole community coming together to raise money for research into this awful disease. “I especially want to mention the numbers of young people who got involved. I think it’s important to recognise the positive contribution that young people can make.” She added, “Participating in this event has made me more aware of the shockingly high incidents of motor neurone disease which exist in South Armagh. This has prompted me to request that the Assembly research the numbers of cases in South Armagh compared to other parts of the country. “I will keep the public informed of the research findings.”
