Representatives from 52 schools across Northern Ireland gathered in Belfast recently for the launch of Ulster Colleges GAA programme for 2012/13. Around 100 guests were present at the Merchant Hotel to hear from Liam O’Neill, GAA President, and Seamus Meehan, Ulster Colleges Chairman, as they detailed plans for the season ahead. Speaking at the launch, Liam O’Neill said: “Each year, Ulster Colleges GAA delivers a fantastic programme of games and I have no doubt that this year will see them excel with another season of exciting and engaging matches. I am certain that the future of Gaelic games in schools in Ulster is in safe hands.” Ulster Colleges GAA recently secured Danske Bank as their new title sponsor in a three-year deal. Danske Bank is the parent company of Northern Bank, which will rebrand as Danske Bank in November. Danske Bank’s sponsorship deal with Ulster Colleges covers 38 of the organisation’s competitions, including the high profile MacRory, McLarnon and Mageean Cups, and the prestigious annual Football and Hurling All Star awards. Seamus Meehan, Ulster Colleges Chairman, said: “We’re excited about the ongoing development of the Ulster Colleges GAA and our partnership with Danske Bank is going to be key in helping us to enrich the lives of young people throughout Ulster. “Over the course of the coming season we’ll continue to provide an excellent platform for talented 11-18 year olds right across the province.” You can see all the latest updates from all the Ulster Colleges competitions on www.ulstercolleges.gaa.ie  as well following Ulster Colleges GAA on Twitter @UlsterCollegesGAA and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ulster.colleges
