Woman (19) left shaken after vicious Barcroft mugging

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a street robbery on Tuesday, 4th September.

The teenager took a shortcut on to Doran’s Hill

At around 1.30pm a 19 year old female was walking up Doran’s Hill, in the direction of Barcroft, when she took a short cut through an alley way on the left, just before Barcroft.

On her way through the alley way a male grabbed her from behind and pushed her face into a wall while he went through her pockets before running off with her handbag.

The teenager was left very shaken by the ordeal and the handbag was recovered from bushes close by however a sum of cash had been taken.

The male is described as being 6ft tall and was wearing a black hoody with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and black gloves. He also had black scarf covering his mouth and nose.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
