Ruane welcomes Mayobridge playpark approval

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the news that Newry and Mourne Council have agreed in principle to lease a site to the side of the Community Centre in Mayobridge from the Community Association to develop a play park for the village.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane stated,

“The provision of proper play facilities for children is crucial to their development and an essential need in any community. I have been campaigning for a state of the art play park for Mayobridge and I welcome the news today that Council have agreed to lease land for the construction of new park.”

“A number of consultation evenings with both young people and residents in the area to discuss the issue were held and planning approval for the park has now been received and drawings have been drafted.”

She added, “I will continue to work with Community Association in partnership with the Council to seek funding to have the park developed as soon as possible.”
