Huge Meigh fire ‘suspicious’ – PSNI

Detectives in Newry are investigating the circumstances surrounding a suspicious fire at a recycling plant in the Newtown Road area of Meigh on 26th July.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 11:00pm on the night in question to tackle the huge blaze at a clothes recycling plant at a warehouse. It was tackled by 115 firefighters and 23 fire engines from across the country throughout the night.

After sometime the blaze was brought under control by NIFRS, however extensive damage was caused to the building and its contents.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to the fire to contact them on 0845 600 8000. If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
