Clarke calls for Council to clean Castlewellan Play-park walkway

Alliance Newcastle Councillor Patrick Clarke has called on Down District Council to urgently clean a walkway which leads to a play-park at the rear of Woodgrove in Castlewellan.

The walkway, which is accessed by people at the roundabout near Europsar, has seen an increase in litter and rubbish as well as overgrown briars and weeds.

Clarke stated: “I have received a number of complaints from constituents in Castlewellan about the bad state of the walkway at the roundabout which leads to the playpark near Woodgrove. There has been an increase in litter and rubbish as well as overgrown briars and weeds.”

“The constituents who contacted me are also concerned the walkway and park is being used at night by people who have left contents of carry-outs from off-sales along the walkway. At present the walkway does look quite bad and obviously is not being cleaned on a regular basis by Council.”

He added, “I have now reported the walkway to Council and asked that the areas in question are properly cleaned and any overgrown weeds and briars are removed.”
