Newry MLA Mickey Brady has welcomed confirmation that Newry Jobs and Benefits Office will retain its provision of Jobseekers Allowance amid fears this service would be removed from the Newry office. Mr Brady said, “This is a good news story for Newry in general and in particular for the people who work in Newry Jobs and Benefits Office. There were fears initially that jobs may be lost in Newry through relocation as has been the case in Strabane where 47 positions were relocated to Derry.” Brady added, “Thankfully this will not be the case and I have received confirmation from both Newry Jobs and Benefits Office and through the Department of Social Development Committee that the administration of Jobseekers Allowance will be retained in Newry.”
