‘Gas main disruption minimised’ – McKevitt

Following a meeting with Firmus Energy Personnel and the contractors McNicholas, SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt complimented the contractors for minimising disruption to the people of Warrenpoint during their gas main installation to date.

Speaking to Newry Times, she said: “Disruption is inevitable, particularly when the planned works begin in the town centre, but the long-term gain in terms of having a choice of reliable energy supply will make it worthwhile. Firmus Energy has committed to continue liasing with local community, council and representatives to work around and avoid clashing with upcoming festivals starting with Blues on the Bay.”

She added, “Our local festivals contribute much to the development of the area, keeping traffic moving and parking are critical considerations.”
