‘Narrow Water Bridge Planning a Priority’ – Ruane

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the reply from the Minister of Environment Alex Attwood that the planning permission for the Narrow Water Bridge has been prioritised.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ms Ruane stated, “I have previously called on the planning for the Narrow Water Bridge to be fast tracked in order to meet the deadline for Interreg funding. I welcome the reply from the Minister to my question on the issue and his assertion that priority has been given to this project as the Minister of Transport in Dublin Leo Varadkar has already fast tracked a similar proposal in Louth.”

“This project has cross party as well as cross border support but it is essential that if we are to see the project brought to fruition that we meet the deadline for inclusion for Interreg funding otherwise we may not to able to proceed without a huge injection of money from other areas,” she added.
