Flash Mobs come to Newry

The Sacred Heart girls in the middle of their flash mob

Flash mobs are a recent phenomenon and we’ve all seen YouTube videos that have gone viral over this past 12 months. From shopping centres suddenly turning into sing-a-thons with hundreds of people singing or dancing in sync or the man who proposed to his partner on a commuter train in London. Not content with an ordinary proposal, Adam King hired a bunch of singers who, in the awkward silence usually associated with a train full of strangers, belted out Bill Wither’s classic song ‘Lovely Day’.

Flash mobs certainly are the flavour of the week and determined not to be outdone by other cities in the UK, Newry now boasts its very own flash mob Youtube video, which has already enjoyed thousands of views. Sacred Heart Grammar School posted the video on YouTube yesterday and since then, the video has been creating quite a stir in the online world, with Facebook and Twitter news feeds dominated by the video.
