Calls for extension to Keady Astroturf Pitch

Keady Sinn Féin councillor Darren McNally has called for council funding to be ring-fenced to extend the AstroTurf pitch in Keady.

Speaking to Newry Times, McNally said, “The AstroTurf pitch in Keady is a brilliant facility for the people of Keady and the surrounding areas. It is widely used and is due for resurfacing at the present time. I have spoken with local residents and council officials about the possibility of also the resurfacing works as an opportunity to extend the area of the current pitch.”

McNally insisted that it would be an ‘essential upgrade to a much utilised community facility’, which he believes would facilitate the playing of additional matches.

He added, “The current size of the Astroturf pitch is negatively affecting matches and this is unfair to users. I have arranged a meeting which will be taking place over the coming weeks between local users and council officials in an effort to move this project office.”
