Witnesses sought after Erskine Street assault

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault in the Erskine Street area of the city. Some time between 1pm and 1.20pm on Wednesday, 8th February, a 19 year old male was assaulted by three unknown males.

One of the males used a bottle to strike the teenager, who subsequently sustained injuries to his head and face. The three males are described as being around 20 years old. One of them was wearing a red Adidas hoody and blue jeans and another was wearing a grey hoody.

The males may have been seen in the New Street, Mourneview Park, Erskine Street and Canal Street areas prior to the assault.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or has information in relation to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000. If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
