Former NI Water Director to sue three local Sinn Fein politicians

Conor Murphy is one of three local Sinn Fein representatives being sued

A man sacked by former Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy over two years ago is to sue Murphy along with two other local Sinn Fein representatives. Declan Gormley, the former Northern Ireland Water Director, is suing Murphy along with Sinn Fein colleagues Cathal Boylan and Willie Clarke over comments made in an article and a press release.

Gormley has also issued a separate writ against the Department for Regional Development, for unfair dismissal and defamation.

The allegations stemmed from a crisis at NI Water Board two years ago – when questions were raised about how the company was run and how contracts were awarded – and subsequently Mr Gormley, along with three other executives, lost their jobs.
