Barcroft group receive Children in Need award

Barcroft Community Centre

The ‘Little Stars’ Parent & Toddler Group, which is based at Barcroft Community Centre, has just received a financial award of £3,000 from the BBC ‘Children in Need’ Fund. The group’s leaders welcomed the financial assistance.

The Chairperson of the Parent & Toddler Group Bernice Shiel said, “Everyone associated with the ‘Little Stars’ Parent & Toddler Group is delighted with the news including the parents, grandparents and committee members. We have worked hard over the past two years to build the group and the weekly attendance has grown by over 40 per cent in the past year.”

Miss Shiel concluded by thanking everyone involved with the application, “On behalf of the Parent & Toddler Group I would like to extend sincere gratitude to ‘Children in Need’ for having faith in us by providing the grant. This money will enable us to buy a lot of new and safe equipment and help with other important tasks. I would also like to thank Barcroft Community Association, Pat Quinn of the Confederation of Community Groups and Mary Rafferty of Orana Sure Start for all their assistance with the Children in Need application process.”

The ‘Little Stars’ Parent & Toddler Group was established by local parents, the Barcroft Community Association, Orana Sure Start and The Early Years Organisation. At present the ‘Little Stars’ group meets every Wednesday morning at Barcroft Community Centre between 10.30 am and 12pm. You can get in touch with the group by contacting Bernice Shiel on 07731315540 and Melissa Lennon on 07709148328.
