Community, What's On
This winter doesn’t have to be a problem if you attend the free “Winter Wise” information event being organised by Newry and Mourne Council’s Environment, Health & Building Services Department. Members of the public are invited to attend the event being held in the main foyer of the West Campus at Southern Regional College, Patrick St, Newry at 4-8pm on Tuesday 13th December 2011. The Council has invited a range of agencies to provide advice on issues such as insulation, heating your home, preparing for an emergency and relevant home energy schemes. John Farrell, Director of Environment, Health & Building Services is urging local residents to attend the event. Speaking to Newry Times, Mr Farrell said, “Last year’s winter weather caused problems for many of us. This year it is important that we are ready incase we face similar conditions.” Among the agencies attending will be the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Power NI, Northern Ireland Water, the Warm Home Scheme and also Council officers.
