Firmus energy is holding a series of events in the Newry area over the coming weeks aimed at supporting local households manage their energy consumption and save money.
The drop-in events will take place at the Mourne Country Hotel between 10am – 2pm over three dates (Friday 29 July, Friday 5 August and Friday 12 August 2022).
Hosted by the company’s energy advisors who are all trained and accredited to City & Guild level in energy awareness, the Newry focussed events form part of an NI wide roadshow series, which will cover the company’s entire network area.

George Lightbody, firmus energy’s local energy advisor says, “Homeowners could be losing as much as one-third of their heating through inefficient measures without realising it and as a result are losing money.
“By introducing a few energy saving measures homeowners can improve their environmental footprint and save money.
“Our Let’s Save Energy Events in Newry are an opportunity for local people to gain important practical information on ways they can manage their energy consumption and save on their energy bills.
“Simple changes to your daily routine can make a big difference.
“And I urge as many people as possible to attend one of the drop in events and take advantage of our knowledge and expertise.
“In the short term, switching from oil and coal to natural gas provides an immediate carbon reduction of around 50%.
“To enable more consumers and businesses to switch to gas from our network, firmus energy continues to lay mains and infill pipeline to local neighbourhoods across NI.”
The three events will all take place in the Shandon suite, Mourne Country Hotel between 10am-2pm and are open to all Newry households.
