Newry murder: Man killed in stabbing incident
Detectives in Newry have launched a murder investigation after a man died after being stabbed in Newry.
The stabbing happened in the Carrivekeeney Road area of Newry on Thursday 26 July.
Police have said the death is being treated as murder.
A man aged 27 has been arrested and is currently in custody assisting with police enquiries.
Speaking to Newry Times, Newry, Mourne and Down Sinn Féin Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has said the death of the young man has shocked the community.
“News of the death of a young man as a result of a stabbing has shocked and stunned the local community here in Bessbrook and Camlough.
“My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim who are trying to come to terms with this terrible news.
“Circumstances are unclear at present, however, I would appeal to anyone that has any information about this incident to contact the police.”
Detective Chief Inspector Eamon Corrigan has appealed to anyone with any information which could assist detectives with their enquiries to contact them in Newry on 101.
