Local young actors follow in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran

Young musical theatre performers, Peter Gildernew, from Newry, Evie Marks, from Lisburn and Will McKee from Comber, form part of the cast of Gulliver’s Travels

Three young actors from Northern Ireland will perform at the Lyric Theatre this summer in a production of Gulliver’s Travels.

Presented by the Lyric Theatre and Youth Music Theatre UK (YMTUK), the aspiring actors, from Lisburn, Newry and Comber, successfully auditioned from over 1000 young people, to become part of the cast and follow in the footsteps of YMTUK famed alumni, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.

Performances take place from 28th – 30th July and feature specially commissioned music by singer-songwriter, Duke Special, who has just completed his year as Musician-In-Residence at the Lyric Theatre.

The production and music takes audiences on an exciting journey through unknown lands with mythical creatures, bringing Jonathon Swift’s classic tale to life on the musical theatre stage thanks to writing by comedian, Andrew Doyle.

YMTUK’s production of Gulliver’s Travels is commissioned with support from Arts Council Northern Ireland through their support as Principal Funder of the Lyric Theatre.
