‘Bin ur Bra’ reaches out across the Trust
As part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Southern Trust teamed up with Pretty ‘n’ Pink Breast Cancer Charity who are offering a unique bra recycling service for the province.
Staff and service users across the Southern Trust were encouraged to donate their unwanted bras to the ‘Bra Bank’ to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2016.
The ‘Bra Bank’ scheme encourages women to donate their used bras for recycling, to help raise money for the Pretty ‘n’ Pink cancer charity.
Pretty ‘n’ Pink receive a donation of £700 per tonne of bras collected, helping the charity provide vital funds for breast cancer patients and their families right here in Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, unwanted, unloved, uncherished bras will be given a brand new home by being shipped out and taking pride of place in the underwear drawer of a lady in a developing country, where bras are in short supply.
The drive has been spearheaded by the Trust’s Breast Cancer Nurse Specialists who encouraged people to make a deposit in the Bra Bank, located outside the canteen in Craigavon Area Hospital.
