Monthly PSNI drop-in service set for Bessbrook
The PSNI are to hold a monthly drop-in service in Bessbrook along with councillors and community workers.
The meetings will be held in the Bessbrook Community Centre, with the first one taking place on Tuesday, October 27th at 3pm.
“This drop in service came about as a result of a series of public meetings I had organised to allow residents to voice their concerns about a number of policing and criminality issues in the area,” Mulgrew explained to Newry Times.
“Chief among the concerns raised by people was the cut in Community Policing services and as a response to that the PSNI has agreed to hold this drop-in service monthly until after Christmas, at which point we will consult the community again to see if they are happy with it or if they feel it would be more beneficial at a different time, date or venue.
“I will also be available at the centre as will community workers. This new service will give people from the area a platform to discuss their concerns with police, request home security visits, raise any council related issues and even accommodate simple things like getting passports or licenses signed and witnessed.
She added, “The object of this project is about making services more available to local people and people from the wider area so I would encourage people to make use of this new initiative.”
