Local businesses urged to attend Newry business rates meeting
Sinn Féin councillor Terry Hearty is urging South Armagh businesses to attend a rates meeting in Newry at the end of the month.
artsOrganised by Newry, Mourne and Down Council the Business Rates Clinic will allow people to discuss their issues and concerns about rates valuations with the people responsible for setting them.
“A number of business in south Armagh were hit very badly with enormous rates increases,” the Slieve Gullion Councillor said.
“These will have a hugely detrimental effect on already struggling businesses in the area, which will have a knock on effect on the region as a whole so I would encourage business owners to come to this clinic.
“It will allow them to put their questions and concerns directly to Land and Property Services; the people responsible for the hikes. Local councillors will also be there to assist you in any way they can.
“Sinn Féin has been tackling this issue for several months now on behalf of people who came forward to us with their concerns but this is your chance to challenge Land and Property directly.
“The best thing you can do to fight these hikes is educate yourself and put your point across directly to those responsible. Don’t miss that opportunity,” Hearty added,
The Business Rates Clinic takes place in The Sean Hollywood Arts Centre in Newry on Tuesday the 29th of September from 10am to 12pm. For more information contact the Enterprise, Employment and Regeneration Office on 0300 013 2233.
